WHY IT MATTERS
Most cookie banners don’t do what they say
Plenty of websites show a cookie banner, but the tracking starts before anyone clicks a thing. Others block everything, so Google Analytics and Google Ads stop seeing your enquiries and you lose the data you’re paying for.
UK rules (PECR and UK GDPR) say non-essential cookies, such as analytics and advertising, need permission first. Since 2024 Google also expects Consent Mode v2 if you advertise in the UK, otherwise your ads lose audiences and conversion tracking.
We set it up so both sides work: visitors get a clear choice, and you keep the tracking you’re allowed to keep.

CONSENT MODE, EXPLAINED
Why Google Consent Mode matters if you run ads
Consent Mode tells Google whether each visitor said yes or no. When they say no, Google gets an anonymous signal instead of a full cookie, and fills the gap with modelling.
Without it, Google Ads in the UK can’t build remarketing audiences and your conversion tracking gets patchy. With it set up properly, you stay on the right side of the rules and keep your campaigns measurable.

THE SMALL PRINT
What we can and can’t do
We’re web people, not lawyers. We’ll set your website up to follow good practice and the ICO’s guidance, but we can’t give legal advice or guarantee compliance for your whole business.
