AI is quick. Print is unforgiving.

AI tools are brilliant for getting an idea out of your head. They’re not so brilliant at the boring bits printers care about. Text that’s almost spelled right. A phone number with a seven where the one should be. Images made for a phone screen, not a 1,000 copy print run. Colours that glow on screen and turn muddy on paper.

We’ve been setting up artwork for print since long before AI came along, so we know exactly what to look for. Every file that comes through our print shop is checked by a person anyway. The AI artwork fix goes a step further: we don’t just tell you what’s wrong, we fix it, keep your design looking the way you wanted and send you a proof to approve.

Wobbly or made-up text

AI loves a letter that doesn’t quite exist. We reset headings, phone numbers, emails and prices in proper fonts so they read cleanly.

Low resolution

Fuzzy edges and pixelated logos get rebuilt or carefully upscaled, so they stay sharp at full size.

Screen colours

We convert your file for print, so the bright colours you picked don’t come out flat and dull.

No bleed or safe area

We extend backgrounds to the edge and pull important details away from the trim line, so nothing gets chopped off.

Lookalike logos and brands

If something looks like it belongs to someone else, we’ll flag it and suggest a fix before it ends up on 5,000 leaflets.

What we can’t promise

We’re print people, not lawyers. We’ll flag anything that looks like it copies a brand, a character or a real person, but it’s your job to make sure you have the right to use what you upload. The full details are in our artwork terms.

  • We won’t print anything that clearly copies someone else’s logo or character
  • AI clean-up can change small details, which is why you always get a proof
  • Once you approve a proof, what’s on it is what prints

AI artwork questions

Usually, yes. Plenty of businesses use AI for flyers and social graphics. The things to watch are whether it copies an existing brand or character, and whether it’s good enough quality to print. We check both.

The law in the UK is still catching up with AI, and it depends on the tool you used and its terms. We can’t give legal advice, so if ownership really matters, for a logo you’ll trademark for example, speak to a solicitor or have us design something original.

Only what’s needed for it to print properly. We keep your layout, colours and style, and you see a proof before anything is printed.

We’ll tell you honestly and quote for a proper redesign at £65 an hour. Often it’s quicker than you’d think.

It’s fine for ideas. For a logo you’ll put on vans, signs and invoices for years, we’d always recommend having it designed properly, so you own it outright and it works at every size.
